Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft visited the genealogy room while at the Atchison County Library.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft recently visited the Atchison County Library in Rock Port, Missouri, while in the area. Secretary Ashcroft talked with Library Director Bob Simpson and Librarian Rebecca Adams about library services and a recent materials grant received from the Missouri State Library.

Secretary Ashcroft was earnest about the importance of libraries in modern society and the many services that are offered to the county community.

While touring the library, he was impressed with the general collection, Genealogy Room (where visitors come to research family ties), and this year’s summer reading mural created by Bob and Children’s Librarian Otto Brandenburg.
