The Rock Port Tourism Board met Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. Members present were Holly Huntley, Tami Lansdown, Angela Mace, Mike Farmer, Madison Dick, and Jody VanSickle. Members absent were Kayti Hayes and Raechel Schoonover. Visitors were Emily Schulte, city clerk, and Charlie Clodfelter.
Holly called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
The meeting agenda was approved.
Charlie Clodfelter was present on behalf of Restore Rock Port. They are seeking a letter of support for a grant. Charlie presented information on the Community Revitalization Grant by the Missouri Department of Economic Development. Board members voted unanimously to approve the support letter.
The minutes of May 19 and July 14, 2022, meetings were approved.
The May, June, and July 2022 financials were also approved.
Charlie Clodfelter submitted an application for the empty Tourism Board position.
Projects & Events
Optional dates and location were discussed for a band. Suggestions were made for after Old Fashioned Saturday Night at the Rock Port Country Club. Holly has contacted JR Chaney about open dates. Members made suggestions for local musicians and will make contact them for availability and pricing. Board members voted to approve up to $5,000 for a band.
The logo competition has ended. The new logo will be revealed at Old Fashioned Saturday Night. Mike will make a banner for this event. Angela suggested new logo t-shirts for the Tourism Board, city board, and city workers. Board members voted to approve up to $1,000 for new logo t-shirts and a banner.
Tami reported everything for the quilt show is coming along as planned. She discussed having a speaker and Mayor’s Choice Award.
Madison reported an additional Farmers Market has been set for September 10. Many local volunteers have helped in the success of the markets. Madison reported the Rock Port Farmers Market has been listed on several websites such as Visitmo.com and Tripadvisor.com. It was suggested that face painting be added to the September date. Board members approved $300 for a club or organization for face painting. Madison will contact the school. Madison reported on musicians for 2023 and the amount to reserve the date. They voted to approve $200 to reserve the 2023 musician date.
Tourism Board members approved $1,200 for the annual Ping Pong Ball Drop at Old Fashioned Saturday Night.
Mike will get a quote on banners for the “Welcome to Rock Port” signs to advertise upcoming events and the new city logo.
Emily presented requests for reimbursement for July 4th expenses from Abby Palmer and Jennifer Geib. Mike made a motion to approve the amount. The motion failed.
The next meeting will be September 8, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.
