The Rock Port Blue Jays were on the road Friday, September 2, as they travelled to Hopkins to play Platte Valley.

Rock Port elected to receive the opening kick-off, but was unable to move the ball, forcing a punt from deep in their own territory. This would be the story for most of the game.

The Jays’ offense had their moments as they would move the ball but never reaching the end zone until later in the second half. The Rock Port defense, however, played strong only allowing one score in the first quarter and only two score in the second quarter. Going into halftime the Jays were only down by 22 points.

Platte Valley’s swinging gate formation gave the Jays’ defense some trouble in the second quarter. They were able to score twice to give them a 22-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half the Jays were able to score twice – once with Phillip Herron and once with Dylan Lair. The final score was 54 to 16.

Rock Port will be hosting Stewartsville/Osborn this Friday for Homecoming. Good luck!
