Doris Elaine (Jackson) Bowers, 80, Fort Lee, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Doris was born June 12, 1942, in Tarkio, Missouri, one of 10 children born to Marshall and Adeline (Falconer) Jackson. She graduated from Craig R-III High School, Craig, Missouri, in 1960. After graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1960-1962, later making her home in New Jersey.

She worked for New Jersey Transit for over 40 years. She was an Army veteran, member of the Eastern Star, and Elks Lodge #2475.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ellen Kiehl and Roberta Jackson. Survivors include siblings, J.M. Jackson, Mound City, Missouri, Dean (Ann) Jackson, Durango, Colorado, Robert (Berdie) Jackson, Las Vegas, Nevada, Richard (Pat) Jackson, Craig, Rodger (Lu) Jackson, Craig, Kay (B.R.) Lemay, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Debbie (Dennis) Rose, Goodman, Missouri; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller; very special, “Aunt Tull” Phyllis Jackson, Tarkio; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside service and interment were held at Tharp Cemetery in Craig Friday, September 9, 2022. The Jackson family conducted the service. Military rites were under the auspices of Story-Hardin American Legion Post #164, Craig. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
