The Community Hospital-Fairfax Auxiliary began their 2022-2023 fiscal year Thursday, September 15, in the Community Hospital-Fairfax conference room. The purpose of the organization was reviewed: to cooperate with the administration in charge, the medical staff and nurses in constructive activities of the institution.

The auxiliary will be holding various fund raisers throughout the year with the proceeds to finance approved hospital projects. Committee assignments were handed out as committee members make the fundraisers possible.

Following the meeting some of the members gathered around the historical quilt that is now on display in the hospital foyer. This gift was donated to the auxiliary by the Atchison County Historical Society. The history of the quilt begins in 1924 at E.H. White’s Department Store in Fairfax. The complete history is included in the display and is well worth stopping by to read. The glass case was donated by the Art Tohill memorial fund.

The auxiliary meets on the third Thursday of the month. Anyone interested in the activities of the auxiliary is welcome to attend.
