Rock Port Food Pantry
The Rock Port Food Pantry is low on the following items: Tuna Helper, Chicken Helper, canned chicken, cereal, spaghetti sauce, jelly, peanut butter, fruit juice, mandarin oranges, laundry soap, tissues, paper towels, and body wash.
Items can be taken to the Rock Port United Methodist Church, 211 W. Opp. The food pantry is located in the fellowship hall. The food pantry will be open Tuesday, October 4, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon; Friday, October 14, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, October 18, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon; and Friday, October 28, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

Tarkio/Fairfax/Westboro Food Pantry board meeting
The Tarkio/Fairfax/Westboro Food Pantry board met Tuesday September 13, 2022, with 13 members present. Churches represented were Fairfax – Christian, Presbyterian, and Methodist; Tarkio – Baptist, Church of God, Christian, Presbyterian, and Catholic; and Westboro – Methodist and St. John’s Lutheran. Sam O’Riley, representing Community Services, also was in attendance. Father Duc Nyguyen opened the meeting with prayer and President Anne Barnett presided.
In July, 47 families representing 92 individuals were assisted. In August, 45 families representing 79 individuals were served. Judy Henson will be attending the Partner Agency Conference in St. Joseph on Wednesday, October 12. With fall and winter months rapidly approaching donations are certainly appreciated.
The pantry will be open the third and fourth Tuesdays and Thursdays of September and October from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. It will also be open the third Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The board members will open the food pantry in September. The Tarkio Methodist Church will open in October. The Tarkio Christian Church will be responsible for opening in November. Clients are reminded that in November and December the food pantry opens a week earlier due to the holidays.
The next board meeting will be Monday, November 7, at 9:30 a.m. The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio. For after hours donations, call 816-261-2672.
The food pantry is currently low on the following items: cereal, flour (5 lbs.), sugar (5 lbs.), pork and beans, chili style beans, Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Chicken Helper, boxed macaroni and cheese, creamy peanut butter (16 oz.), tomato juice (46 oz. can), saltine crackers, and toilet paper.
Monetary donations are also appreciated as the money allows the shelves to be stocked with the items that are low. Donations intended for the local food pantry need to be given directly to the pantry. Donations given to Second Harvest do not come back to the local pantry.
