Beverly Luhrs Straight was born on January 14, 1931, on the Luhrs family farm near Langdon, Missouri, that was settled by her great-grandfather. She passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 91 years in Mesa, Arizona. Bev was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Craig, Missouri. Her faith always remained an important part of her life. She was a very active member in her church, Victory Lutheran, Mesa, serving as a Stephen minister sponsor, and a caregiver who inspired others to follow in her footsteps.

Bev graduated from Rock Port High School in 1949. She also graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a BS degree in Education. True to her nature of wanting to be of service to other people, she worked as a leader in the social services industry for over 30 years in three different states. Bev helped and changed the lives of hundreds.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Viets Luhrs and Otis Luhrs, and her husband, Donald Straight, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Stevenson, and her son, Donald Straight, Jr., both living in Texas. Her surviving siblings include Eva Lambrecht, Marilyn (Robert) Howell, and Barbara (Morris) Heitman. She enriched the lives of her eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Bev had a loving heart and will be missed by many! Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Victory Lutheran Church in Mesa.
