Phillip A. Beckman, the son of Lowell and Betty Ellyn (Dragoo) Beckman, was born May 10, 1952, in Fairfax, Missouri. Phil attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1971. He then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, for one year.

In 1973, Phil was united in marriage to Carla Cagle and they became the parents of one son, Daniel Phillip. They later divorced.

While living in Florida, Phil owned and operated Beckman Company. In 2015, he returned to Tarkio to be closer with his family and grandchildren. Due to health concerns, Phil retired in 2020.

Phil loved all sports and playing softball. He enjoyed going to the beach and listening to music, especially Jimmy Buffet. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Phil passed away Monday, October 17, 2022, at his home in Tarkio at the age of 70.

Besides his parents, Phil was preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Douglas Beckman; uncle, Johnny Dragoo; and aunt, Mary Lou Broermann. Survivors include son, Daniel (Thyra) Beckman, Watson, Missouri; grandchildren, Autumn, Austin, Savannah, Hux, and Chord; twin sister, Phyllis (Lyle) Brown, Rock Port, Missouri; sister, Jill (Bryan) Caudill, Tarkio; aunt, Doris Ann Stanton, Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Tarkio. Rev. Glenn Scott officiated. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Phil Beckman Memorial Fund for Phil’s grandchildren.
