On Friday, November 4, 2022, the East Atchison Wolves High School football team hosted the Albany, Missouri, Warriors in their first Class 1, District 4 play-off game. It was a miserable wet and cold night, but the Wolves got it done and won the game 28-20.

The Wolves got an early lead in the first quarter with a 16 yard touchdown run by Braden Graves (with a two-point conversion) and an 11 yard touchdown pass from Blake Simmons to Jarrett Spinnato. The quarter ended with the Wolves up 14-0.

In the second quarter, the Wolves found it difficult to score while Albany racked up 12 points. However, Weston Klosek earned two points from a safety and the quarter ended with EA leading 16-12.

The third quarter saw the only points put on the board by Wolf Braden Graves in an 11 yard touchdown run. The Wolves headed into the fourth with a 10 point lead.

The Warriors fought back in the fourth by adding a touchdown, but were still down two points. Then came a Spinnato 76 yard kick-off return for the Wolves, adding another six and ending the game in an EA victory of 28-20.

On the defensive side of things, Klosek’s block and safety and interceptions by Linkin Murry (1), Owen DeRosier (3), and Graves (1), not to mention the tackles helped the Wolves put a stop to the Warriors’ advance.

The win moves the Wolves to the next round of District play against the North Andrew Cardinals in Rosendale, Missouri, Friday, November 11, at 7:00 p.m.
