November 14, 1947
• The sale of the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Creed by Mrs. Ernest Nauman to Harry A. Sly for $16,000 sets a new figure in Fairfax real estate values for, as far as The Forum knows, no other piece of residence property in Fairfax.
• Shortly after noon last Thursday, two super deluxe busses pulled into Fairfax from the north, drew up to the curb and stopped. On the front of the busses were the words New York Civic Opera. Several of the visitors got out and visited stores, made some purchases, and took a look at the town.
• Tuesday morning, the thermometer was down to 13, making it the coldest day of the season so far. It is estimated that two-thirds of the corn crop in the community has been harvested.
• The body of Pfc. Harold Brunk, who was killed in action February 16, 1945, in Germany, arrived in Maryville Wednesday. The military funeral will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home in Maryville Saturday with burial in a Maryville cemetery.
• The Fairfax Community Hospital is to be located on lots known as the Taylor lots, provided by Mrs. Anna P. Taylor, which will have frontage on Highways 275 and 59 between the Baptist Church and the vocational agriculture building. The land has a 250 feet frontage on the highway and 200 feet on South First Street.
November 16, 1972
• The Community Hospital Auxiliary at Fairfax recently received a package of gift items for the Gift Shop courtesy of Mrs. Bea McMillan of Parsons, Tennessee. Mrs. McMillan writes that she spent considerable time at the hospital last summer with her mother and was impressed with the quality of the care given by the staff. To show appreciation, she wanted to donate some homemade articles.
• U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Jerry D. Hayes has graduated from the Air Force Communications Service Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Richards-Gebaur AFB, MO. Hayes, a 1961 graduate of Fairfax High School, is a manpower management technician at Richards-Gebaur with a unit of AFCS which provides global communications and air traffic control for the USAF.
• Ice and snow clogged Main Street in Fairfax Tuesday after a 12-hour storm left the community with no long distance telephone communication, a six-hour power outage, and a temporary storage of water.

• Tuesday, November 11, was Veterans Day and the Fairfax Avenue of Flags in the city park was flown in honor of those who served for our freedom. It takes a lot of willing hands to put up 61 flags, but it is a thrilling sight to see.
• Fairfax celebrated its football homecoming several weeks ago and the king and queen were crowned. They were Trudy Heitman and Dylan Sly.
• Air Force Airman First Class Anthony R. Ross has arrived for duty at Incirlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey. Ross, a 1993 graduate of Craig High School, is a security force member assigned to the 39th Security Forces Squadron.
