Linda Kay Creed, 79, of Fairfax, Missouri, died November 13, 2022, at the Oak Pointe assisted living facility in Maryville, Missouri. She was born July 17, 1943, in Lynwood, California, to Denzel and Dorothy Travis. The family returned to the Mound City, Missouri, area in 1945 where she grew up. She graduated from Mound City High School in 1961. She married Sam Creed on June 7, 1964, in Mound City, and he survives. Sam and Linda moved to their home on the Creed family farm where they lived until 2021.

Also surviving are two sons, Mike and Tony; and three sisters, Sally McIntyre, Janice McCormick, and Martha Ideker. Brothers, Ralph, and Jerry, and one sister, Rosie, preceded her in death.

In addition to raising their boys and caring for the homestead Linda was an important part of the family farm, responsible for accounting and record keeping. After the boys were out of the house, she worked at Community Hospital-Fairfax and the Fairfax school cafeteria. Linda was active in the local community. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Friendly Neighbors Group as well as a volunteer at the hospital.

Linda was a member First Presbyterian Church of Fairfax. She sang in the choir and served as a deacon. Linda enjoyed cooking, gardening and antiquing. Linda loved children and seemed happiest when around them. Throughout her years Linda enjoyed traveling abroad with her closest friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairfax Presbyterian Church, officiated by The Rev. Dr. Robert Bardeen. Burial will be at the New Liberty Cemetery in Mound City. Memorials may be directed to New Liberty Cemetery, Fairfax Presbyterian Church, and Dementia Society of America.
