Tim Morehouse was the guest speaker at the Tarkio Veterans Day Assembly. Tim has worn many “hats” in his lifetime, but being a proud veteran and American gives him the most pride.

As each military branch was recognized at the Tarkio Veterans Day Assembly, veterans who served in that branch would stand up to be recognized. Pictured standing are Ponya King and Charlie Martin, veterans of the U.S. Navy.

 

The family of K.J. “Jim” Lewis was present to raise his flag Friday, November 11, at the Fairfax City Park. The Fairfax Avenue of Flags is under the direction of John Richards American Legion Post #284. Volunteers gathered Friday to raise the flags and will be needed again Friday, November 18, to lower the flags at 12:00 noon.

 

The flags honoring Robert E. Irvine, John H. Irvine, Thomas N. Irvine, Harry L. Irvine, and Donald L. Woods were raised by family members.

 

The flag honoring the late Doyne Swan was raised by his former neighbors, Bob Alldredge, left, and John Brown, right.

 

Students cheered as veterans walked the halls of Rock Port Elementary School.

 

The guest speaker at the Rock Port Veterans Day assembly was Captain Thomas Herron. Captain Herron is presently serving with the Army National Guard in Kuwait.

 

A POW/Remembrance table was set up by Dylan Kemerling.

 

The Rock Port High School Band performed service songs at the Rock Port Veterans Day assembly.

The Fairfax R-3 student body held a Veterans Day assembly Friday, November 11, 2022. Kindergarten through third grade students waved their flags as they sang “Stars and Stripes Song.”

 

Preschool students sang “Veterans Day Song” at the Fairfax Community Veterans Day assembly.

 

The Fairfax junior high and high school bands performed “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Armed Forces Melody,” and “Taps” at the Veterans Day assembly Friday, November 11, 2022.

 

The Fairfax fourth, fifth and sixth graders sang “A Patriot’s Heart” at the Veterans Day assembly Friday, November 11, 2022. The choir was accompanied by Suzanne Southard.

 

Captain Scott Pfeifer, U.S. Army, Retired, was the guest speaker at the Fairfax Community Veterans Day assembly Friday, November 11. His sister, Jonnie Kemerling, gave the closing remarks.

 

The Linden Church Quilters Guild presented pillows to the veterans of its congregation on Sunday, November 6, 2022. The pillows, made by Valerie Duncan, featured the branch of the military, the name of the veteran and a Bible verse. Recipients were Tony McKenney, Marlin Gayler, Ken Lucas, Richard Stephens, and Richard Sperber. The guild also made lap blankets (below) to be presented to veterans at Pleasant View Nursing Home.
