Mary Jo Vance, the daughter of Rev. Cleo and Pearl May (Hamilton) Graham, was born November 22, 1945, in Norwitch, Iowa. Mary Jo attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1964.
Mary Jo was employed by Eaton’s Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, as a machine operator for 18 years. She also worked as a personal caregiver for family, nursing homes, and home health care.
Mary Jo was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary #199, Tarkio, and Church of God. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, doing crafts, and playing the piano. She was a talented musician. Mary Jo especially loved spending time with her family. Mary Jo passed away, Friday, November 11, 2022, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, at the age of 76.
Besides her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Cleo Junior Graham. Survivors include children, Pamela (Mark) O’Riley, Shawnee, Kansas, Bryan Graham, Tarkio, and Bradley Graham, Tarkio; grandchildren, Megan (Jace) Champlin and Rachael (Brent) Clifton; great-grandchildren, Riley, McKenzie, and Clary Champlin, and Rowan Clifton; siblings, Robert Graham, Patsey (Bill) Riley, Beverly (Larry) Walker, and Jerry Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Mary Jo Vance Memorial Fund for final expenses. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
