Junior Dale “J.D.” Hines, the son of Charles Washie and Helen Louise (Batson) Hines, was born October 25, 1942, in Albany, Missouri. Junior attended Rock Port, Missouri, schools.

On June 12, 1965, Junior was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson in Tarkio, Missouri. They became the parents of three sons, Chris, Jim, and Matthew.

Junior was employed as a farm hand for Paul Brown, Sublette, Kansas, for 15 years, then Co-op and McCoy Grain. He then was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation in Sublette before being transferred to McPherson, Kansas, retiring after 23 years. After retiring, Junior returned to Tarkio where he lived to the present time and was employed as a part-time employee for MO Valley Ag, Rock Port, for 14 years.

Junior was a member of the Satanta Masonic Lodge #446, Satanta, Kansas, and Sublette Southern Baptist Church, Sublette. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. Junior passed away Sunday, December 4, 2022, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 80.

Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald, Charlie, and Jimmy Hines; and sisters, Phyllis Ann and Iva Fern Hines, Susie Shaw, and Roberta “Faye” Hines. Survivors include wife, Barbara Hines, Tarkio; children, Chris Hines, Jim Hines, and Matthew (Dawn) Hines, all of Tarkio; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Hines and LeRoy “Butch” (Alice) Hines, all of Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Reverend Glenn Scott will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Junior Hines Memorial Fund.
