
Larry Paul Stepp, the son of Roy Keith and Eva Caroline (Block) Stepp, was born December 4, 1948, in Hamburg, Iowa. He lived and attended grade school in Watson and Langdon, Missouri. Larry attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1966. On June 5, 1968, Larry entered the United States Navy, serving in the Danang, Vietnam, Theatre as a Seabee. He received his honorable discharge on October 21, 1969.
On June 29, 1973, Larry was united in marriage to Nannette White at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. They made their home in Tarkio, Missouri, and became parents of one son, Anthony Keith.
Larry was an owner/operator truck driver and leased his truck to Tarkio Pelleting for 18 years. In 1990, he then became an over the road truck driver for numerous long haul trucking companies. In 2004, he moved to Smithville, Missouri, hauling for Liquid Transport, retiring in 2014. Larry returned to Tarkio and drove for his longtime friend Ronnie Martin at Martin Trucking until October 2022.
Larry was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church and served on “The Session”. He was also a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio, for over 50 years. His life was watching his grandchildren. Larry enjoyed car racing, watching the Chiefs, and taking care of his dog, Harry. He and Nan also enjoyed traveling. Larry passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 74.
Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by stepmother, Wilma Stepp; brother-in-law, Rodney Beckman; and nephew, William Christopher White. Survivors include wife, Nannette Stepp, Tarkio; son, Tony (Eryn) Stepp, Tarkio; grandchildren, Ian, Macy, and Asher Stepp, Tarkio; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Don (Linda) White, Tarkio, Chris White, Doniphan, Nebraska, Debra Sue (Kim Herrick) Beckman, Tarkio, and Nicki Charles White, Lake Placid, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, at Tarkio Presbyterian Church. Open visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, at the Tarkio Presbyterian Church, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. Inurnment will be held at Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the Larry Stepp Memorial Fund to be used for his grandchildren’s college education.
