The Rock Port R-II Board of Education held a regular meeting December 12, 2022. President Jeremy Davis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the board room. Other board members in attendance were Joanna Burke, Kayla Sierks, Afton Schomburg, Reven Herron, Regan Griffin, and Jared Meyerkorth. Also present were Elementary Principal Dr. Steve Waigand, High School Principal Donnie Parsons, Superintendent Dr. Ethan Sickels, Board Secretary Jennifer Welch, and the following guests: Sheena Roup, Leigh Ann Lawrence, Jill Gilson, and Amy Skillen.

The agenda was adopted and the minutes of the regular meeting of November 15, 2022, and special meeting of November 22, 2022, were approved. Dr. Sickels reviewed the financial information for the month ending November 2022. The transfer of funds, November final check register, December check register to date, and the activity account checks were approved. During communications, Dr. Sickels read a letter of resignation from Georgia Criger.

Mrs. Lawrence, Mrs. Roup, and Mrs. Gilson presented on K-3 Social Studies.   

Dr. Sickels presented the monthly program evaluation report on Library/Media. He also presented the first reading of the 2023-2024 calendar.

The board proceeded to address several new items of business. Action was taken to approve the updated 2022-2023 Safe Return to In-Person Instruction, approve the 2022-2023 budget amendments, consider and vote on bids for the surplus property – 2011 Chevy Cruze. Following a brief discussion of future business items, the meeting was adjourned.
