A Tarkio, Missouri, resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Atchison County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening, December 15, 2022.
A 2002 GMC Sierra 1500, driven by 66-year-old Stephen McQuinn, was westbound on U.S. Highway 136 approximately three miles east of Rock Port, Missouri. The pickup lost control on the snow covered roadway, crossed the center line, and traveled off the southside of the roadway into a ditch and struck an embankment. The vehicle then traveled back onto the roadway, coming to rest on its wheels facing southwest in the middle of Highway 136.
McQuinn, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported by an Atchison-Holt Ambulance to Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri. The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Double M Towing of Rock Port. Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper S.S. Base investigated the scene, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
