The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) Board met February 15, 2023. Board members present were: Craig Corken, Eryn Stepp, Jill Davis, Mary Ann Hull, Roger Martin, and Jeff Meyer. Monica Bailey, director, was also present.

The January minutes were approved as presented.

The January financials were also approved as presented.

Director Report

Two 2.0 Business Improvement grants have been awarded so far this year. A total of $15,000 remains in this fund for 2023.

Great Northwest Day at the Capitol was attended by nine individuals from Atchison County. Meetings were held with new legislators, Rep. Farnan and Sen. Black. Atchison County’s theme was “Solving the Puzzle of Atchison County One Piece at a Time.” The booth received second place.

Community lunches will be held at the Tarkio Nutrition Center on Wednesday, March 8, Rock Port Country Club on Wednesday, March 15, and Fairfax Community Room on Wednesday, March 22.

New Business

The group reviewed a nonprofit support request from Northwest Missouri Industries, Inc. for purchase of a shredder that will help establish a secure onsite document shredding service in the county. Martin moved that ACDC contribute $3,595.00 to this project. Davis seconded and all approved.

The Fairfax Optimist Club submitted an initial nonprofit support request for their youth baseball field upgrade project, which the board reviewed and will vote on at an upcoming meeting.
