By Beverly Clinkingbeard
According to the all-knowing records of the file drawer, I’ve been writing of local history, people and other notions since 2010.
If you’ve been a reader of these articles, then perhaps my latest publication, “Possum Walk,” would be enjoyable. It is a fictional story of a rural school setting at LaMar Station, Nodaway County, Missouri. The time period is during the Great Depression of the 1930’s and is of a young woman’s first teaching experience and it all happens at Possum Walk Country School, LaMar Station.
The book is available locally at The Avalanche and The Flower Mill in Tarkio, Missouri, and The Atchison County Mail in Rock Port, Missouri. Online it is available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Two previous publications are also available. “Chore Boy” is the story of a boy and is elementary school reading level, but the subject matter is particularly enjoyed by old farmers, too. “Oakdale” is written for tween/teenagers and adults. It is a story of a family managing while the mother is away in a sanitarium. All books, including “Possum Walk,” are authored under the childhood name of Jeannie Edwards, a/k/a Beverly Clinkingbeard, Westboro, Missouri.
With sincere thanks to my readers, ’til next time…
