• A big timber wolf of the kind rarely seen this far south was killed Saturday on the bottom land southwest of the Ralph Seymour home. The wolf stood 30 inches high and weighed 78 pounds, about twice the size of the average coyote.
• Fifty-nine attended the reorganization meeting of the Fairfax High School F Club which was held in the auditorium Tuesday evening and given in honor of this season’s lettermen.
• A wooden bridge about a half mile south of Fairfax burned one night last week and its absence has inconvenienced people of that community. The bridge is about a 20-foot span and trash has been dumped in the ditch it crosses. The trash caught fire and burned the bridge.
• Fairfax High School now has three G.I. farm training classes of 25 members each.
April 19, 1973
• The Park Leather Shop has on display this month leather art pictures by Darrell Hawkins, international leather artist.
• Fairfax residents will go to the polls Tuesday, April 24, to vote on a proposition to issue 20-year general obligation bonds in the amount of $195,000 for the purpose of extending and improving the city water system. A new well will be drilled and a treatment plant and still well constructed.

• A yield of 212.32 bushels per acre recently gave William Samuel Creed of Creed & Creed third place in the class AA no-till non-irrigated division of the 1997 National Corn Growers Association’s corn yield contest in Missouri. The yield was Pioneer brand 32J55 and gave Creed one of the 321 titles won with 50 different Pioneer hybrids.
• Terry and Robin Hopkins of Fairfax announce the birth of their daughter, Ryan Elizabeth, born Friday, April 3, at Community Hospital, Fairfax. Randy and Kerry Baker of Fairfax announce the birth of a daughter, Rhonda Kay, born Sunday, April 5, at Community Hospital, Fairfax.
• Over The Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “R&L Grocery has a new item and boy is it good! Try Chef’s Choice Chicken Stir Fry. I did and I’m going back to try the other flavors!” “Thought for the day…you know you are growing older when your favorite part of the newspaper is ‘25 years ago today.’”
• Community Hospital Association has extended its cardio-pulmonary services and hours to better serve the busy and working communities it serves. New hours are 7:30 to 5:30 seven days a week. Timothy D. Clanton, Registered Respiratory Therapist, has joined the cardio-pulmonary team of Thomas C. “T.C.” Johnson, CRTT RRTE, department director, and Betty Lindsay, LPN.
• About 100 children were on hand for the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the city park on Saturday morning. Each child received a prize containing an ice cream cone certificate, can of soda, or a prize. The event was sponsored by Mu Lambda Beta Sigma Phi.
