Sharmyn Gayle (Steele) Young was born on December 29, 1960, to Robert “Bob” and Charlene (Jones) Steele. She attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1979.

Sharmyn moved to Portland, Oregon, and worked numerous jobs before being employed by Northwest Pump for over 30 years.

Sharmyn was a member of Good Shepherd Community Church, Boring, Oregon. She held numerous positions including a Deacon. Sharmyn went to be with her LORD on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 62.

Besides her parents, Sharmyn was preceded in death by an infant sister. Survivors include sisters, Linda (Russell) Herron and Suzanne (Duane) Klute; brother, R.D. (Marissa) Steele; favorite niece, Rochelle Henagan; and nephews, Mike and Todd Herron, Steve, David, and Paul Klute, and Remington, Ridge, and Reed Steele.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Rock Port, conducted by Pastor Bill Hargis. Open visitation began at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to Sharmyn Young Memorial Fund for Local Charities. Services are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
