The 275 Conference Spelling Bee was held with the top spellers from 10 participating schools in their age divisions on Monday, April 24, at Nodaway-Holt R-VII High School in Graham, Missouri. The pronouncer was Nick White and the three judges were Sandra Benedict, Taylor McClurg, and Stacy Calfee.
The participating 275 Conference schools in Missouri were Mound City R-2 School District, South Holt R-1 School District (Oregon), Nodaway-Holt R-VII School District, Rock Port R-2 School District, Fairfax R-3 School District, Tarkio R-I School District, North Nodaway R-VI School District (Hopkins), Union Star R-2 School District, Buchanan County R-IV School District (DeKalb) and Northeast Nodaway R-V School District (Ravenwood).
Awards were given to the top three spellers in grades 3/4, grades 5/6, grades 7/8 and grades 9-12. Those competing in the conference bee were: Charlie Brown and Rae Hill of Nodaway-Holt; Aliyah Wilke, Gracie Walker, and Danika Agnew of Tarkio; Addy Giddinge, Alex Wintz, and Lexi Brown of Fairfax; Kinsley Nuckolls, Clara Hays, Karlie Gebhards, and Sara Newbanks of Rock Port; Piper Steeby, Allison Stone, Makenna Grace, and Aidan Whorton of Union Star; Meredith Sawyer and Adam Martinez of Buchanan County; Eryn O’Connell, Chase Stephenson, Severia Hall, and AJ Adwell of Northeast Nodaway; Hunter Rhoades, Sophie Biermann, Jaylynn Wilmes, and John Oswald of Mound City; Jayneigh Lawson, Trenton Roberts, Halie Young, and Morgan Pope of North Nodaway; and Mattie Howell, Charlotte Plummer, and Whitney Turner of South Holt.
Winners in grades 3/4 were Charlie Brown, first; Mattie Howell, second; and Meredith Sawyer, third. Grades 5/6 winners were Chase Stephenson, first; Gracie Walker, second; and Charlotte Plummer, third. Winners in Grades 7/8 were Danika Agnew, first; Severia Hall, second; and Jaylynn Wilmes, third. Grades 9-12 winners of the conference bee were AJ Adwell, first; Morgan Pope, second; and Aidan Whorton, third.
