After 20 years of dedicated service, Lynn Roop is retiring from Hy-Vee in Tarkio.

Lynn Roop has retired from Hy-Vee in Tarkio after 20 years of service. Her last day was Monday, May 15, 2023.

Lynn became another “helpful smile in every aisle” on July 9, 2003, working as a checker/stocker. As time went on, she also worked in the meat department, as well as the produce department on occasion. Lynn has seen a lot of changes at the store over the years. Besides the different managers and coworkers, Hy-Vee’s checkout system has changed several times and now includes self checkouts. The supply has also been added to and now includes ready-to-go/easy-prep foods and customers driving electric cars can now charge their cars in the parking lot. Besides Lynn’s smile and conversations with customers, her strong work ethic will be greatly missed. Lynn said, “I will miss the employees I have grown old with, especially my manager, Jenn [Jennifer Heard]. She has always been a friend and fair in every way.”

Although Lynn has no special plans for retirement, she’s looking forward to spending more time with her family and enjoying being outside in her yard taking care of her flowers.
