May 28, 1948
• Sixty-seven members and guests attended the second anniversary of the Fairfax Kiwanis Club at the Presbyterian Church Thursday evening of last week. Judge Ray Weightman of Maryville was the guest speaker.
• The Rev. Harold M. Parker, Jr., general superintendent of the Fairfax daily Vacation Bible School, reports that 175 boys and girls from the community enrolled Monday morning. The attendance this year is so large that additional teachers have been recruited to provide ample teaching staff.
• Tuesday, the center section of the steel overpass, which will connect the school grounds with the school athletic field and will allow safe crossing of the highway, was put in place. It is directly over the highway.
May 31, 1973
• The Golden Arrow Bow Hunters will sponsor the 10th annual tourney at the outdoor range southwest of Fairfax June 3. A full day of events is planned and lunch will be served on the grounds at noon.
• Supporters of Fairfax Community Betterment donated material and labor to paint and repair the home of Miss Mae Miller.
• Miss Gale Seymour, 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Seymour of Fairfax, has competed for and won the title of Arabian Horse Association of Nebraska Princess for 1973. She will represent the Arabian Horse Association of Nebraska throughout the year.
• Lane Seymour is spending most of his summer vacation from college on a two-month submarine cruise. Lane is a member of the Navy ROTC program at Missouri University and elected the submarine program. The cruise deployed from Guam.

• Maurice and Margaret (Bowness) Graves will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 7, 1998, with a reception at First Presbyterian Church, Fairfax. They were married on June 8, 1948, by Rev. Arleigh W. Lassiter at the home of the bride’s parents in rural Dale township.
• Over The Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “Forty people gathered to raise and lower the Avenue of Flags at the city park. With lots of help, it didn’t take long to get the job done. Jim and Polly McConnell have been chairmen of this project since the beginning.”
• The Heitman twins have earned the top two spots in the Fairfax High School Class of 1998. Trudy Heitman is valedictorian and Patricia Heitman is salutatorian. The girls are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Heitman of Fairfax.
• Coach Terry Hopkins announced there will be a basketball camp held at Fairfax June 22-26 for kids in grades 4th through 9th.
• There are three new trophy cases in the hall leading to the new media center at Fairfax High School. The cases were a gift from the Jim Fisher family. They are oak and have lights in them, as well as shatter proof glass.
