Rock Port finished their season on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, playing in the District 16 championship against Platte Valley. The Rock Port Blue Jays had a bye in the first round of the Class 1, District 16 Baseball Tournament.

The Blue Jays scored the first run in semifinal action Tuesday, May 16, against South Holt. They scored another run in the fourth inning, but South Holt answered with runs in the fifth and seventh innings to tie the game at 2-2.

Rock Port batted in the bottom of the ninth when Corbyn Jakub drew a walk, scoring the winning run.

Jakub led the Blue Jays to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered no runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one. Ozey Hurst started the game for the Jays. He pitched over five innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six. Relief pitchers Jarret Hunter and Tayden Cook helped to close out the game.

The Blue Jays met a tough Platte Valley team in the championship game May 17. Platte Valley only allowed one run, two hits, 1 RBI, and three walks. The Jays scored their only run in the sixth inning. Platte Valley won the contest 11-1.
