Directors Nathaniel Wehmeyer and Melody Barnett presented senior Faith Anderson with an award for being in band and choir all four years.

The Tarkio high school band performed “Chimes of Liberty,” “We Are Family,” “Rippling Watercolors,” and “Great Steamboat Race.”

 

The Tarkio high school choir sang “Gloria,” “Riversong,” and “Hallelujah” at the spring music concert.

 

The Tarkio junior high band played “Pride of Buxmont,” “Childhood Hymn,” “Jamaica Jack,” and “Spirit of the Team.”

 

The Tarkio junior high choir sang “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

 

The Tarkio sixth grade band performed “Bald Eagle March,” “Ode to Joy,” “Hard Rock Blues,” and “High Hopes.”

 

The Tarkio fifth grade band played “Old McDonald,” “Twinkle,” and “Skip To My Lou.”

 

Tarkio elementary, junior high, and high school musicians entertained their family and friends at the spring music concert Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in the Tarkio High School gym.

The fifth grade band started things off with “Old McDonald,” “Twinkle,” and “Skip To My Lou.” The fifth graders include: flute – Olivia Searl; clarinets – Brynna Alsup, Ea England, Sophie Hegstrom, Tory Hogue, and Mikayla Windham; alto saxophones – Brody Anderson, Tucker Hurst, and Brynleigh Lopez; trumpets – Ava Brown and Landon Scott; trombones – Landon Driskell, Raziel Kimpston, Graceyn Reeves, and Raylan Stillwell; and percussion – Tristan Burke and Skyla Holtz.

The sixth grade band played “Bald Eagle March,” “Ode to Joy,” “Hard Rock Blues,” and “High Hopes.” The sixth graders include: flute – Gabby Hogue; clarinets – Alegra Brodrick, Leila Brooks, Aiden Erickson, Bentlee Gladman, and Brilee Slemp; saxophones – Emma Navin and Rogan Russell; trumpets – Keely Bredensteiner, Makenna Caudill, Mason Rentschler, Caleb Smith, and Gracie Walker; trombones – Mason Criss, Grayson Masonbrink, Xander Moore, and Josh Schlueter; baritone – Michael Vance; percussion – Teagan Taylor and Owen Vette.

The junior high choir per-formed “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The junior high band played “Pride of Buxmont,” “Childhood Hymn,” “Jamaica Jack,” and “Spirit of the Team.” The junior high musicians include: flutes – Danika Agnew, Beth Clark, Star Hankins, Dezzy Kimpston, Zoe Rosenbohm, Macy Stepp, Bailey Wennihan, and Delainee White; clarinets – Kambry Bullock, Brandon Criss, Mackenzie Criss, Savanna Lindsay, and Taya Windham; saxophones – Velicity Hegstrom and Conner Horstmeier; trumpets – Teahen Hannah, Finn Hurst, Easton Madron, Kaiden Nelson, Jax Peregrine, and Ben Rolf; trombones – Luke Gebhards, Aiden Jimenez, and Sophia Riley; and percussion – Treyton Brown, Grace Caudill, Jayden Scott, and Brody Wennihan.

The high school quintet of Lizzie Schlueter, Addison Noland, Quin Staten, Alex Barnett, and Faith Anderson performed their district music contest song “Wade in the Water.” The high school choir sang “Gloria,” “Riversong,” and “Hallelujah.” Quin Staten, who earned gold at the state music contest with his solos, sang “Sing Me A Chanty” and “The Water Is Wide.” The high school band performed “Chimes of Liberty,” “We Are Family,” “Rippling Watercolors,” and “Great Steamboat Race.” The trumpet trio of Lizzie Schlueter, Jozee Eaton, and Quin Staten, who earned a bronze at the state music contest, performed “Tandem Trio.” Lizzie Schlueter, who earned silver at the state music contest with her trumpet solo, played “Orientale.” High school choir members include: Faith Anderson, Alex Barnett, Dylan Drummond, Jillian Hannah, Jayla Irvine, Kale Lekey, Kayden Levendahl, Zoe Madron, Addison Noland, Rainy Nordhausen, Olivia Schaefer, Lizzie Schlueter, Quin Staten, and Alyson Wooten. High School Band members include: flutes – Dalaynie Drummond, Dylan Drummond, Bresayda Jimenez, Hailey Morton, and Alyson Wooten; clarinets – Haylee Clark, Abby Harms, Addison Noland, Brooklyn Wennihan, and Jaeka Wiley; saxophones – Cole Anderson, Emily Gebhards, Jina Harbit, Mary Laur, and Rainy Nordhausen; tenor saxophone – Kamryn Brown; trumpets – Faith Anderson, Alex Barnett, Sydnee Bruns, Jozee Eaton. Lizzie Schlueter, and Quin Staten; trombone – Gabe Harms; baritone – Olivia Schaefer; tuba – Owen DeRosier; percussion – Alexis Bywater, River Dow, Daniel Lesher, Luke Morey, Connor Morton, Bo Peregrine, Ian Stepp, and Isaac Vette.

Following the band’s per-formance, awards were handed out to several students. Students earning recognition for their first year in band or choir or both were: Kale Lekey, Isaac Vette, Bo Peregrine, Luke Morey, Olivia Schaefer, Emily Gebhards, Zoe Madron, Jaeka Wiley, Jina Harbit, Bresayda Jimenez, Rainy Nordhausen, and Dylan Drummond. Second year honorees included Gabe Harms, Connor Morton, Owen DeRosier, Cole Anderson, River Dow, Haylee Clark, Jillian Hannah, Jayla Irvine, Sydnee Bruns, Kamryn Brown, Abbie Harms, and Alyson Wooten. Third year recognitions went to Dalaynie Drummond, Alexis Bywater, Hailey Morton, Ian Stepp, Brooklyn Wennihan, Addison Noland, and Alex Barnett. Daniel Lesher was recognized for having been in band all four years. He was also presented the John Philip Sousa Award. Faith Anderson was recognized for having been in choir and band all four years and was presented with a trophy. Both were also asked to sign Mr. Wehmeyer’s podium as outgoing seniors. Quin Staten was recognized for having the highest points in choir and Lizzie Schlueter was honored for having the highest points in band. Both Quin and Lizzie, along with Jozee Eaton, were also recognized for their achievements at district and state music contests. Quin earned a gold on his vocal solo, Lizzie earned a silver on her trumpet solo, and Quin, Lizzie, and Jozee earned a bronze on their trumpet trio at state.

To end the night, The Pink Bunnies, composed of Connor Brown, Luke Morey, and Daniel Lesher, performed a song.
