June 4, 1948
• Fairfax folks bought 700 poppies Saturday from members of the American Legion Auxiliary, who report the sale was one of the best they have ever had. Receipts for the flowers totaled $125.
• George Bilby, one of the producers of the 4-State Roundup to be held July 15-18, reports that cowboys from 11 states have sent letters stating they expect to compete here.
• Mrs. Doris Dixon is now an employee of the McNeal Beauty Shop. She and Miss Jenita Oswald will operate the shop. Mrs. Pearl McNeal, the owner, has discontinued her beauty work.
• Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Olson and family, who took over the operation of the Jorgensen Cafe last fall, are moving to Villisca, Iowa. The management of the cafe is now in the hands of Elvera McDermott, who will continue to operate the place under the name of the Olson Cafe.
June 7, 1973
• Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Ray and daughters left last weekend from their home in Seal Beach, California, for Denmark, where they will spend about three months. Mr. Ray is being sent on an assignment by his firm, Collins Radio.
• Kiwanians made a trip to Egypt via the projection method with member Frank Gould doing the narrating at Tuesday’s Kiwanis luncheon. Dr. Gould has served as a missionary in that area.
• The foundation for the park stage was poured last week and should be ready for use by the June 21st opening of the Fairfax Fair.
• Dick Flanagan, a native of Fairfax, has been made head track coach at NWMSU at Maryville for the coming term. He has been on the college coaching staff for the past three years where he is assistant football coach in addition to his track duties.

• The Fairfax Forum in Fairfax, Missouri, has been purchased by Will and Joy Johnson of Tarkio, Missouri. The Johnsons have owned and operated the Tarkio Avalanche in Tarkio since 1981. The Forum has been a part of the Fairfax community for 120 years and will continue to be.
• Over The Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “I will be leaving the Fairfax Forum at the end of this month. I have sold it to Will and Joy Johnson of Tarkio. I feel like after 47 years of working in this newspaper, it is time to quit. I intend to stay in Fairfax. This is my home and you are my family. I will just be unemployed!”
• The Fairfax girls’ relay team, a hurdler, and a runner competed in the state track meet May 22 and 23. Lacy Sly placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles, Jessica Johnson placed fourth in the 800 meter run, and the 4×100 meter relay team of Lacy Sly, Marcy Pennel, Jessica Johnson, and Traci Davis placed fourth.
• The annual Fairfax FFA Banquet was held Thursday, May 7. Dustin Graves was named Star Greenhand and David Gomel was named Star Chapter Farmer.
• Seventy-five people attended the Walkup Grove Cemetery Memorial Day ceremony May 25. A new monument was dedicated at the cemetery. It carries the picture of the church with the history on one side and the other side is the story about the first two burials in the cemetery.
