• At the Supply Store Food Market in Tarkio: watermelon, 4¢ per pound; Carnation milk in a tall can, 3 for 42¢; potato chips, 10¢ and 25¢; ice cream, pint 25¢ and quart 45¢; meats, wieners, 55¢ per pound; and bulk lard, 49¢ for 2 lbs.
• Russell Howell has purchased the residence property, formerly occupied by the Lynn Akey family, at the corner of Fourth and Broad streets just north of Evelyn’s Beauty Shop.
• Two hundred fifty 4-H members, leaders, and parents attended the 4-H picnic at the Tarkio Community Park Sunday, June 27. These people were from the 13 4-H clubs of Atchison County and brought a basket lunch and spent the day visiting and playing games.
• Approximately 225 persons attended the official presentation of the new Memorial Building in Tarkio by members of the Allen-Schiffern Post No. 199 of the American Legion Tuesday night.
• Dr. A. W. Martin of Tarkio was one of the speakers at the pre-assembly conference of the United Presbyterian General Assembly, which began June 9 and was in session for five days at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

• Boy Scout Troop 88 returned from a second session at Camp Geiger, St. Joseph, where they were in the Apache Campsite. The 38 local Scouts were the second largest troop at camp. They completed 50 badges and worked on 97 additional ones.
• Mrs. James Postlewait suffered a broken left leg Sunday evening while the family was at their farm. As she puts it, they were “horsing around” with the horses and was unfortunately in the way as a pony stepped back and a fall occurred.
• Mrs. Maurice (Hazel) Buckley was selected to be honored this year in the brochure of the Missouri State High School Championship Rodeo. The brochure will be dedicated to her in recognition of her many years of work with the group.
• James A. Elsberry, Director of Choral Music at Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska, has returned to the Mule Barn Theatre as the Music Director. Jim’s first show is “Camelot,” which opened this week and runs through July 8. Jim has been involved in more than 25 musicals and has just completed a writing assignment for Long Beach State College to be performed in Sweden this summer.

• The Tarkio College 1975-76 women’s basketball team was inducted into the Tarkio College Athletic Hall of Fame Friday, June 26. Team members in attendance were Linda Grumley, Cherry Farel Wright, Connie Cook-Williams, Diane Morley Lade, Donna Schroer Williams, and Coach Gary Bussard. Others inducted were K.K. Martin (class of 1927), Becky Confer Lade (class of 1982), and George Henry (class of 1975).
• Susan K. Rhoades has been named the new director of Heartland Recreation Center in Tarkio. She is the granddaughter of Elsie Fae Rhoades of Tarkio.
• Twenty-eight teams have registered with the National Continental Amateur Baseball Association to come to Tarkio the end of July and compete in the 13th annual 11 & Under C.A.B.A. World Series.
