Playwright Randall David Cook of New York will visit Brownville Village Theatre for the world premier of “Death at Downton!” on July 7.
If you are looking for something special to do the first weekend in July, look no further than the Brownville Village Theatre (BVT) in the historic town on the Missouri river.
The theatre, which is in its 56th season, will be hosting a world premiere event on Friday, July 7. BVT will present “Disaster Theatre presents: Death at Downton! An Aristocratic Upstairs-Downstairs Murder-Mystery Parody, Because Longer Titles Are A Certain Indicator of High Quality and Refined Taste,” a play by Randall David Cook.
The world premiere event of “Death at Downton!” begins with a pre-show cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. featuring wine, beer, and a signature BVT cocktail. Come with your favorite companion or a group of Downton-loving friends to take pictures at the themed photobooth! Enter to win at the world premiere event raffle. A raffle basket will include BVT merchandise, tickets to an upcoming BVT show, and a program autographed by the playwright and cast.
The world premiere of “Death at Downton!” starts at 7:30 p.m. Theatre guests will be the first audience to enjoy the show in its entirety with playwright Randall David Cook in attendance. The BVT describes the show as, “A deliciously cheeky take on the much beloved PBS costume drama. The loquacious title really tells you all you need to know but suffice it to say that ‘Death at Downton!’ starts with a single dead body in the drawing room and ends with many more. And no, the butler did not do it. But who did? Come find out in the world premiere of this wicked and hilarious new play where aspic, turtle soup, and murder are all ready to be served.”
At the post-show reception, the bar will open again to theatre guests. Downton inspired snacks and sweets will be served. Patrons can meet and mingle with Randall David Cook and the costumed cast. The raffle winner will be announced during the reception. All-inclusive tickets include show ticket, cocktail hour drinks, and reception refreshments. Come find your love of the theatre during this special event, right here in your own backyard!
All inclusive tickets are only $25 and are limited.
