The Atchison County Library is excited to announce that it is expanding its services to the community by adding the entire Tarkio Resource Center to its family. Currently, the library’s Tarkio branch resides inside the Resource Center at 405 11th Street. The community has used the building’s north side as a meeting place through the Mule Barn Theatre Guild. The Atchison County Library will now assume the role of coordinating the building for the public’s use and using the space as a community classroom for library events.
“Our hope in taking over the Resource Center is to create a space for education, creativity and enriching experiences in Atchison County,” said Library Director Jennifer Roup. The library’s staff and board is hard at work brainstorming a variety of ideas for upcoming events.
The library will honor all previously scheduled events that were made through the Mule Barn Theatre Guild. The Missouri Highway Patrol’s Driver Exam Station will remain as is, operating in the Resource Center on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
