The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) board met August 9, 2023. Present were: Lori Seymour, Craig Corken, Bob Alldredge, Mary Ann Hull, Eryn Stepp, and Jill Davis, board members; Monica Bailey, director; and Carol Clark, administrative assistant.

Board members approved the June meeting minutes and the June and July financials as presented.

Director Report

ACDC continues to provide staff support to Restore Rock Port (RRP) and Tarkio Renewal (TR). RRP has raised most of the funds needed for the demolition at 321 Main Street and will start raising funds for the next project soon. TR still has $5,000 available in their Property Improvement Grant fund.

The Business Improvement Grant program has $15,000 available. Applications will be awarded until all funds are allocated.

Applications for 2023-2024 Youth Beautification Grant projects (to be completed July 31, 2024) are due September 8, and winners will be announced at ACDC’s annual meeting on September 13 at the Fairfax school.

Two technical/career training scholarships were awarded to May 2023 Atchison County graduates, both of whom are attending Tarkio Tech.

New Business

The Tarkio Nutrition Center submitted a Nonprofit Support Request for the purchase and installation of handicap accessible doors. The board reviewed the information and will make a decision at an upcoming meeting.

Fairfax Improvement Foundation submitted a Nonprofit Support Request for the demolition of a dilapidated house and to create additional parking near the school, which the board reviewed and will vote on at an upcoming meeting.

Annual meeting details were discussed.

The following slate of officers for the coming year was nominated by Davis, seconded by Hull, and approved by all: Lori Seymour, president; Craig Corken, vice-president; Eryn Stepp, secretary; and Bob Alldredge, treasurer. This will take effect after the annual meeting in September.
