The Fairfax R-3 School Board held a special meeting Friday, August 11, 2023. In attendance were: Chance Clement, Miles Smith, Treyvor Umbarger, Theresa Larson, Brett Johnson and Jon Graves, board members; Nick Kemerling, Superintendent; and Karen Burke, secretary.

Miles Smith made a motion to go into executive session at 7:32 a.m. as allowed by the revised statutes of Missouri 610.021 (3). Treyvor Umbarger seconded and the motion carried 6-0.

Board members unanimously approved a stipend of $1,963.50 for Dr. Burright as the Special Education Director.

Theresa Larson made a motion to hire Beth Graves for .2 FTE Elementary Counselor at a salary of $8,340 plus two extended contract days for a compensation of $450.81 for a total of $8,790.81.  Treyvor Umbarger seconded and the motion carried. Jon Graves abstained.

The board also voted unanimously to hire Shelley Eaton for .4 FTE junior high/high school counselor at a salary of $16,680 plus five extended contract days for a compensation of $1,127.03 for a total of $17,807.03.

The board also took action to hire Allison Rogers as head junior high volleyball coach with a stipend of $1,785, and to hire Jonnie Kemerling as senior class sponsor with a stipend of $946.05.

Board members voted to leave the executive session at 7:42 a.m. The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 a.m.
