South District Commissioner Richard Burke, left, presented a resolution from the Atchison County Commission to Lori Jones, right. Lori began working in the Atchison County Assessor’s office on June 1, 1983, with the COE Program for Tarkio High School. Six years later, Lori ran for the position and took office September 1, 1989. She was re-elected for eight additional four-year terms, giving her a total of 40 years and three months of service to the citizens of Atchison County.

 

Family, friends, and co-workers gathered Thursday, August 31, 2023, to honor Assessor Lori Jones for her 40 plus years of service to Atchison County. Rochelle Moore appointed Assessor

Governor Mike Parson announced five appointments to various boards and commissions and filled three county office vacancies on September 1, 2023.

Rochelle Moore of Rock Port, Missouri, was appointed as the Atchison County Assessor. Rochelle is originally from St. Joseph, Missouri. She graduated from Benton High School in 2006 and moved to Rock Port in 2015 to be closer to her soon-to-be husband, Nathan Long. Nathan is a graduate of Rock Port High School.

Rochelle started her career at the Atchison County Courthouse in June of 2016. She has been the Chief Deputy Collector for Diane Livengood and is cross-trained with both collector and assessor offices. She is well versed in using the different software and has attended conferences for both offices. “I’m very excited for this opportunity to advance my career,” she said.
