The third game of the season for Rock Port was Friday, September 8, against the Stewartsville/Osborn WildCards. The Blue Jays would kick off to start the game in Stewartsville and the WildCards would come out hard, scoring on their opening drive and again on their next possession to give the WildCards a 12-0 lead.
It wasn’t until the second quarter that the Jays would find the end zone, with a pass from Cade Makings to Corbyn Jakub, cutting the lead in half, making it 12-6. The defensive line came alive and started putting pressure on the WildCards’ quarterback. Makings would find Jakub for the second touchdown to tie the game at 12s. Stewartsville/Osborn would then score its final touchdown in the second quarter; however, the Jays were just getting started. Corbyn Jakub would score 26 points, Dakota Evans would score 28 points, Cade Makings had 10 points and Jack Meyerkorth would add six points for a total of 70 points on the night.
Then you take a look at the defense, which managed to shut Stewartsville/Osborn out of the end zone the rest of the game. The Jays’ defense would have a total of five sacks with Reed Miller having three and Ryder Herron and Corbyn Jakub with one each. Cade Makings would get a pick six and Miller would have a fumble recovery.
The Jays came away with a big win against the WildCards 70-18.
Rock Port travels to DeKalb Friday, September 15, to take on the Tigers.
