The Allen-Schiffern  American Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 held a meeting on September 11, 2023, with six members attending. The meeting opened with members giving their hours and money spent helping veterans for the month of August. The minutes of the last meeting were not available, so will be read and approved at the next meeting. The financial report was given by Treasurer Sheridan Mires and approved.

Membership was discussed. There are still members who need to return their dues to Barb Hines. It was discussed that if no dues are paid then their membership will be dropped. Several attempts have been made to collect those dues.

The 4th District meeting will be September 16, 2023, at the Tarkio American Legion building. All Atchison County ALA Units will be hosting the event. Members should come to the legion building Friday, September 15, at 1:00 p.m. to set up. Menu items could be brought in on Friday or Saturday prior to the meeting.

The national convention will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The fall rummage sale will be October 20-21, 2023. Donation take-in will be October 9-18 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No take-ins will be allowed on October 19 for final organizing. Turkeys have been ordered for the annual dinner on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Mark your calendars! There is still no date for County Government Day to be held this fall.

Chaplain Judy gave a closing prayer of Remembering 9/11.  Linda Kaye declared the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be October 9, 2023.
