The Rock Port R-II Board of Education held a regular meeting September 14, 2023. President Regan Griffin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Other board members in attendance were Joanna Burke, Reven Herron, Kayla Sierks, Jared Meyerkorth, Troy Cook, and Afton Schomburg. Also present were Superintendent Rex Bollinger, Elementary Principal Steve Waigand, High School Principal Donnie Parsons, Board Secretary Jennifer Welch (via Zoom), and guests Gracie Mobley, Betsy Larson, Laura Forehand, Jessica VanGundy, Sydney Rains, Cara Davis, and Stevie Pritt.

The agenda was adopted and the minutes of the regular meeting of August 17, 2023, were approved. Dr. Bollinger reviewed the financial information for the month ending August 2023. The transfer of funds, July final check register, the September check register to date and the activity account checks were approved.

During scheduled audience, the new staff members came in and gave introductions. Steve Pritt talked to the board about implementing one to one Chromebooks with students in grades 7-12.

Dr. Waigand and Mr. Parsons gave the elementary and high school reports. Dr. Bollinger presented the monthly program evaluation report on Health Services, Preschool, and Career and Tech Education.

The board proceeded to address several new items of business. Action was taken to approve the 2023 – 2024 Bus Routes, approve the 2023 – 2024 ACES agreement, and consider the TABS Committee appointments.

Action was taken to hire Erica Barnes for the open elementary paraprofessional position, Sean Kroeger for the open vocational route bus driver, and Austin Alitz for the open high school girls’ basketball head coach extra duty position.
