The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting September 20, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Ryan Kingery, Mayor, at 6:35 p.m. Others in attendance were: Tabitha Wintz, Debra Wyatt, Shannon Long, and Beth Graves, Aldermen; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Terry Miller, Treasurer; Robert Montgomery, owner of Montgomery Trash Service.
The tentative agenda was approved.
Robert Montgomery, owner of Montgomery & Sons Trash Service, St. Joseph, Missouri, was present to quote trash service for Fairfax. After a short discussion Robert left the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
The minutes of the August 23, 2023, regular meeting were approved unanimously.
Accounts payable was also approved.
The aldermen were updated on the CDBG Street Grant project.Asphalt contractors are running about a week behind due to some unforeseen issues with another project they are working on and should be in Fairfax around September 28 to begin working on the streets. During this time the block west of city hall (between city hall and the old grocery store) will be blocked off for rock deliveries and construction equipment.
Lori and Terry presented the council with a Profit & Loss Budget review. After reviewing, the aldermen voted to transfer $6,000 from the general account to the Street Light account.
The board discussed in detail several addresses with ordinance violations. Lori will be sending out letters next week.

Terry Miller, City Treasurer, reported that all accounts are in balance.
Reports were given by Lori Helfers, City Clerk, and John Brown, Water Superintendent.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m. The next meeting will be October 18, 2023.
