The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, October 26, 2023. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Clerk Taylor presented a request from the Atchison County Library Board of Directors to reappoint Janet Griffin to a new four-year term. The commissioners voted to reappoint Janet Griffin.
The commissioners voted to adjourn the regular session of the commission and open the 2023 salary commission meeting at 9:00 a.m. The salary commission adjourned at 10:20 a.m. and the regular session of the commission reopened.
Bids were opened at 11:00 a.m. to supply three computers, two for the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and one for the 911 Office, as required by the guidelines related to a cyber security grant the county was awarded through the Department of Homeland Security. Three bids were received: one from MTE, one from Midwest Data Center, and one was pulled from Sourcewell state contract. Clerk Taylor requested that all bids be tabled for review of the specifications to meet the grant. The commission agreed.
During the afternoon session the commission met with HR Director Amy Meinecke and Deanna Beck, prior HR Director. They, along with Clerk Taylor, have been reviewing RFQs for a health insurance broker. The commission reviewed the RFQs, and asked questions related to references that had been contacted. After a lengthy discussion, the commission tabled the decision for further consideration.
There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
