November 12, 1948
• A new requirement in physical education has been met by Tarkio High School. It is now possible to hold swimming classes on regular school time. Arrangements have been made with Tarkio College for this P.E. class to use the pool in the mornings.
• A very entertaining and informative program was given to the high school students in a special assembly Tuesday morning provided by Dr. J. Richard Olson of the University of Minnesota. Dr. Olson presented a picture and lecture series on the topic, “America the Beautiful” with scenes of interest throughout the U.S.
• Some of the new books at the Tarkio Public Library are “Tomorrow Will Be Better” by Smith, “The Plague” by Camus, “Westward Ho!” by Perelman, “Old Beauty” by Cather, the Pilgrim Edition of the Bible and “The Littlest Angel” by Tobelwell.
• Work has begun this week on a new home for Mr. and Mrs. Don Wall and family. The house will stand at the corner of 10th and Broad streets in Tarkio.
November 15, 1973
• Mr. Hintlian and about 65 8th graders visited the Heebner Rock Quarry near Plattsmouth, Nebraska, November 2. The students were visiting the quarry for the purpose of investigating geology and collecting fossils. They had an all-around successful trip, despite the fact that the bus that they were originally going to take caught fire.
• The FFA/FHA Barnwarming was held November 10 at the Tarkio Community Building. This year’s king was Gary Vette and queen was Sally Sybert.
• Hy-Vee is advertising: frozen turkeys, 65¢ and 69¢ per pound; tall can of Hy-Vee strained cranberry sauce, 22¢; Hy-Vee brown’n serve rolls, pkg. of 12, 29¢; Dulaney sweet potatoes, qt. can, 49¢; and celery, 19¢.
• The Tarkio Indians closed out a highly successful season on a scoring rampage. The Indians scored eight touchdowns and four points-after-touchdown for 52 points to Craig’s 14.
• The kindergartners are a lively bunch this year. There are 31 currently attending at Tarkio Elementary School.
• Tarkio College has student teachers working in the public school district to help earn their teaching certificate. The students and the teachers they are working with include: Mary Jane Davison, Mrs. Donna Wineman; Ellen Dubinski, Mrs. Mary Halliday; Margaret George, Mrs. Doris Schmidt; Judy Maher, Mrs. Sidney Cooper; and Richard Reilly, Dave Palmeiro, and Nancy Rumpf, Mrs. Twyla Jagger.

• The members of the Nu Sigma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Tarkio enjoyed a “quilting” program given by Katherine Erdman. Katherine is a very talented seamstress and has made many quilts.
• The Tarkio High School junior class is selling Tarkio Indian afghans to raise money for the prom.
• A total of 280 people attended the Business and Professional Women’s Craft Show held Sunday, November 8. There were 30 booths.
• The Tarkio Chamber of Commerce recently purchased new tables for the Tarkio Community Building.
