Warren Gerhardt Tiemann, the son of William Gerhardt and Lillian Marie (Fuelling) Tiemann, was born on July 23, 1931, in Westboro, Missouri. He attended Westboro High School, graduating in 1949. Warren then attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri, for two years before being drafted into the United States Army on April 1, 1952. He served his country during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge on December 31, 1953.
Warren returned to Westboro and began his farming career. He was united in marriage to Mary Joan Richards on August 21, 1966, at Northboro United Methodist Church, Northboro, Iowa. They became the parents of two daughters, Nancy Ann and Caroline Marie. Warren and Mary made their home in rural Westboro for over 50 years until Warren’s declining health moved them to Tarkio, Missouri, in 2019. Mary passed away November 1, 2022.
Warren was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, and served as a member of the church council and other committees when called. Warren also served on the Westboro School Board. He enjoyed being a farmer and spent long days working outdoors. He sported a farmer’s tan year-round! In the evenings, he enjoyed sitting on their deck that overlooked the farm, at least until the biting bugs or cool air would force him into his recliner. Later on, he enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. Warren passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio, at the age of 92.
Besides his parents and wife, Mary Tiemann, Warren was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Ann Bothwell; sister, Betty Jane (Thad) Corder; sisters-in-law, Marie Tiemann and Ruth Henry; and brothers-in-law, Morris (Helen) Richards, Warren (Ruth) Richards, Clarence (Clarice) Richards, Ross (Phyllis) Richards, and John Richards. Survivors include daughter, Caroline (Michael) Peters, Corning, Missouri; son-in-law, Trenton Bothwell, Westboro; grandchildren, Cassidy Bothwell, Lincoln, Nebraska, Corben Bothwell, Westboro, Seth Harvey, Craig, Missouri, and Lillian Harvey and Brock Peters, both of Corning; brother, Marlan Tiemann, Shenandoah, Iowa; brother-in-law, Edwin Henry, Indianola, Iowa; sister-in-law, Ruth Richards, Coon Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
