As we enter into the Thanksgiving season it is easy to get distracted by the hustle and bustle of the season. We should slow down and think of something every day to be thankful for instead of what is on the wish list of things to get. If we can learn what Paul learned in Philippians 4:11 when he said, “I am not saying this because I am need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any situation, whether well fed or hungry, living in plenty or want. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

I think if we could learn that Paul’s secret is Christ. To keep your eyes on Christ no matter your situation you are facing this holiday season. Maybe you have an empty chair at the table, maybe an empty room. Maybe a new addition to the family. Whatever situation, my prayer is that you are seeking Christ to be your peace and comfort.

Being thankful is a heart attitude. Ask the Lord to help you be thankful even when you don’t think you have anything to be thankful for.

Christ is everything we need to be thankful for.

Psalm 100:4 – “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.”
