• Specials at the B.P. Hunter Store included: men’s plaid jackets, $5-$7; ties, $1-$2; robes (blue or wine), $10; nylon hose, $1.19-$1.85; dress gloves, $1.95-$4.50; and handkerchiefs, 15¢ to $1.
• Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Kruse celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 14 and were guests of honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Stickler, at which place they were married.
• By a vote of more than 5 to 1 (248-48) on Tuesday, Fairfax people voted to approve a bond issue of $90,000, the proceeds of which will be used to construct a modern sewer system.
• “The King of Kings” will be shown at the Baptist Church Sunday night. The film was produced by Cecil B. DeMille. It has made more real the story of Jesus’ life and teachings.
• The Exchange Bank of Fairfax was 56 years old Tuesday. The bank opened for business December 14, 1892, and is the oldest Fairfax business institution, being only two weeks older than The Forum newspaper.
• Old Santa will be coming to Fairfax Saturday afternoon and will greet children of the town. There will also be a free picture show at the Fair Theatre.
December 20, 1973
• The soft glow of candlelight against the warm atmosphere of the century-old Walnut Inn in Tarkio provided a festive holiday background for the annual Fairfax Community Hospital Christmas party.
• A closing-out farm sale at the farm of Mrs. Floyd Southard will take place December 28, 1973.
• The Fairfax Baptist Church will hold a Christmas Cantata “There’ll Always Be A Christmas” Sunday, December 23. Solo parts will be sung by Leona Ray, Janice Pierce, Roger Martin, Shirley Harmon, Janice Walker, Fern Jones, and narration by Pastor Clyde Hendricks.
• Two young men from Fairfax produced an overall average corn yield of 157.59 bushels for an all-time record in the 26-year contest sponsored by the Fairfax Kiwanis Club. Kent Ray topped all previous winners with a record of 243.57 bushels per acre. Mark Hawkins placed second with 185.25 bushels.

• Santa Letters: “Dear Santa, I’ve been a good boy. Can I please have some Ace bandages? From, Spencer Barnes”; “Dear Santa, I want for Christmas a Giga-Pet and a new Beanie Baby doll, the movie Titanic, a new baby, a sled, a new computer with a mouse, and a new poster of Santa. • The preschool and kindergarten students at Fairfax R-3 dressed up as Christmas elves and delivered gingerbread men to the janitors, cooks, secretaries, principals, superintendent, and nurse at the school.
• “Only angels can wing it, the rest of us have to practice” is a saying Marilyn Alldredge believes in. Marilyn is a collector of angels. She has over 300 angels in her home. They have come from many different places such as Japan, Hawaii, and all over the United States.
• The Pinochle Club is celebrating its 50th year of having fun together, visiting and playing pinochle. The club was started in the fall of 1948 by a group of young farm wives. The first meeting was held October 21, 1948, at the home of Dorothy Freeman northwest of Fairfax.
