Cindy Walker Burton wrote this poem in loving memory of her mother, Pat Walker (August 1937-February 2023). She said, “For everyone with an empty chair this Christmas, my heart and my prayers go out to you.”
“There Is An Empty Chair”
by Cindy Walker Burton
My tears are for my loved one,
Who is missed beyond compare.
Because this Christmas in my home
There is an empty chair.
Precious memories of all the years we shared,
Photographs and many laughs but
There’s an empty chair.
Your absence in my life is almost more than I can bear,
It was always you and me but now
There’s an empty chair.
Always doing things together, we were quite a pair,
Now you’re gone and life goes on but
There’s an empty chair.
I love you and I miss you, you’re in my every prayer,
You’ll never be forgotten.
There is an empty chair.
