• Under the direction of Mrs. Keith Boettner, who is chairman of the annual March of Dimes campaign locally, a funfest program will be given at the Memorial Building February 2. The program will include numbers by the high school band, the Jesters quartette, the Mellodears, tap dances, a tiny tot revue, novelty and comedy numbers with business men and women in cast, a style show by Watts and Mullins Dress Shops, and a hair dress show by local beauty operators.
• County Clerk Loren W. Coe reports that his office issued 2,352 hunting and fishing licenses in 1948. The office remitted $5,636.66 to the state treasury as the state’s part of the license revenue.
• Aunt Jemima, the pancake queen, is coming to Rock Port Saturday under the auspices of the Hy-Klas Food Store, and will give free servings of her product to the public throughout the day.

• One of the most recent and nicest improvements to the Rock Port business district was the addition to the Rock Port Dairy Sweet by owners, Mr. and Mrs. Max Thomas. The new addition is air conditioned and measures 52×24 with a seating capacity of 62 people.
• Rock Port’s new rural fire truck was delivered January 4, 1974. The new truck is a fine piece of equipment, a 750 gallon pumper with a 750 gallon booster tank of water.
• Northwest Missouri Achievement Workshop was organized January 20. People from the entire county met to organize for a handicap workshop for adults. Gary Cooper, Fairfax, was elected chairman. Plans call for the workshop to open in the fall.
• A full-term 40-year license to operate the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville has been issued to Nebraska Public Power District by the Directorate of Licensing of the Atomic Energy Commission.
• High honor roll students for the second quarter, with no grade lower an an E-, were: Becky Schaffner, Susan Burke, Jana Stoner, Laura Corken, Cindy Markham, Rebecca Boettner, Kim Burke, Deanna Bedell, Linda Omohundro, Kathy Burke, Clay Knierim, Steve Jones, David Stoner, Cathy Lewis, Richard Boettner, and Jill Wanamaker.

• Rock Port Elementary Students of the Week are: Brook Mason, Chelsea Cooper, Jason McGuire, Cherish Stogdill, Megan Handley, Goldie Reed, Keri Garst, Jessica Liess, Lacey Bailey, Andrea Gutierrez, Cody Gibson, and Tyler Ward.
• Little Miss Nakiah Rachel Ann Hamilton was born January 17, becoming the first baby of 1999 born at Community Hospital Association, Fairfax. She is the daughter of Tanya McHugh and Gordon Hamilton of Burlington Junction.
• The Rock Port Garden Club met January 11. Officers are: Carmie Fletemeyer, president; Belva Garst, vice-president; Ann Husing, secretary; Dorothy Muller, treasurer; Lois Bennington, chaplain; Irene Rice, reporter; Julie Burke, historian and youth chairman; and Zella Davis, bird chairman.
