Community Hospital-Fairfax, in partnership with the Community Healthcare Foundation, delighted attendees with an evening of glamour and entertainment at “A Roaring Good Time Gala and Show” at the Atchison County Memorial Building in Rock Port. The two-day event, taking place on Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, showcased a remarkable display of talent and community spirit.
The festivities commenced on Saturday evening with a delectable meal prepared by The Roost Eatery, with the invocation given by Richard Oswald, Vice- Chairman of the Community Healthcare Foundation. Attendees then gathered in the Liberty Theatre, where they were greeted by Julie Jones, CH-F Chief Executive Officer, who celebrated the fact that the hospital is celebrating its 75th year of service. Kris Umbarger, Director of Community Healthcare Foundation, recognized the many sponsors who helped make this event such a success, setting the stage for the evening’s entertainment.
Guiding the audience through the evening’s program was emcee Ashlee Driskell, who entertained attendees with her anecdotes and updates on Community Hospital-Fairfax activities. The night unfolded with a series of captivating musical performances, beginning with Cassidy Kline’s rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner,” followed by Lexi Brown’s soulful interpretation of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.”
Throughout the evening, attendees were treated to a diverse selection of musical acts, each leaving a lasting impression. Christina Hall’s rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” showcased her vocal prowess, while Dave Hoffman’s nostalgic performance of “The Red, Red Robin” by Lillian Roth delighted the audience. Kristi Sons Spellman wowed with a Diamonds Medley of “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” Erica Taylor’s rendition of “Only in New York” from “Thoroughly Modern Millie” mesmerized the crowd. Clint Dougherty brought energy to the stage with “Minnie and The Moocher” by Cab Calloway, captivating attendees with his dynamic performance.
Adding to Saturday evening’s charm, the Rock Port High School Brass Ensemble delivered a stellar performance, highlighting the talent of local students. Dave Hoffman returned to the stage with “It Had to Be You” by Isham Jones and Gus Kahn, followed by a captivating rendition of “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now” from the musical “Hairspray” by Christina Hall, Erica Taylor, and Kristi Sons Spellman. Clint Dougherty closed the evening on a high note with Ozzie Nelson’s “Dream a Little Dream of Me.”
Sunday’s performances were topped off with a fruit and dessert bar for all in attendance. The 50/50 raffle winner was Dr. Mina Massey. All told, the events raised around $30,000 for the hospital.

Student servers from Fairfax, Rock Port, and Tarkio lent their assistance during the dinner, ensuring guests were treated to a memorable culinary experience. From hosts and hostesses to raffle sellers and kitchen helpers, the event saw an outpouring of community support and collaboration.
