Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) added a new career exploration event to its list of emerging workforce programs. The group hosted an eighth grade career day event that spanned the entire county Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Over 70 eighth graders and five counselors started their morning at Community Hospital-Fairfax and then were bused to different locations to hear about Advanced Pork Systems, Hurst Greenery, Meyerkorth Aviation, and Cooper Nuclear Station. One of the primary efforts at ACDC is connecting students with Atchison County adults (outside of a traditional school setting) who like what they do, in order to show them that a successful life is possible here. At this event, the eighth graders were introduced to dozens of careers available right here at home.
