Robin and Rob Winger were recently thanked for their support of Tarkio College/Tarkio Tech. Tarkio Tech President Johnnie Davis presented them with a yard sign Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Darryl and Merylan Lowrey were recognized as friends of Tarkio College/Tarkio Tech and presented with a yard sign by Tarkio Tech President Johnnie Davis.
Tarkio College d/b/a Tarkio Tech has selected the yard sign recipients for the spring of 2024. The program is designed to recognize businesses and individuals who have been instrumental in the re-birth of the college’s campus through the newly created career and technical school.
This spring’s business award recognizes two businesses, Atchison County Hy-Vee in Tarkio and Atchison County Development Corporation in Rock Port. Hy-Vee has been a valued partner in many of Tarkio Tech’s programs. The grocery store workers have volunteered their service and the store has donated snacks for the cultural events that are held in the Rotary Theater and various additional programs at Tarkio Tech. In addition, Hy-Vee is an excellent option for students who are seeking part-time employment during their time at Tarkio Tech. Atchison County Development Corporation has been a key resource since the school’s re-opening. They have blessed the school with multiple grants and have provided much-needed encouragement through the recognition they sponsor annually. ACDC Director Monica Bailey has kept the school informed of outstanding opportunities to promote its programs through events like Great Northwest Days.
The recipients of the individual awards are Darryl and Merylan Lowrey and Rob and Robin Winger. The Lowreys have provided many hours of labor covering multiple projects ranging from erecting the new sign at the south entrance to interior work in Jenison student residence hall. The Wingers are heavily involved in the creation of the Mule Barn Theatre Guild’s new “David Rankin Museum . . . a journey through the history of Takio” project located on the third floor of Thompson/Curnutt Center. They have volunteered many hours organizing the materials and arranging the displays. All four individuals have been instrumental in promoting Tarkio Tech within the community. The efforts of these individuals, and many more like them, have led to the continual development of the Tarkio Tech campus.
