The 128th graduating class of Fairfax R-3 School was honored at commencement Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the Fairfax High School Gymnasium.
Members of the Class of 2024 were Collin Bryant Hedlund, Victoria Lynn Jamison, Trenton Richard Earl Kingery, Tyzjuan Lamar Kirkland, Samuel Dwayne Litherbury, Charlie Allis Smith, Jasey Michelle Smith, Zackary Daniel Stevens, and Kendal Kay Straub.
National Honor Society members were Trent Kingery, Charlie Smith, Jasey Smith, and Kendal Straub.
Class officers were: Trent Kingery, president; Kendal Straub, vice-president; Jasey Smith, secretary; and Jasey Smith and Ty Kirkland, student council representatives. Mrs. Jonnie Kemerling was the class sponsor.
The seniors’ class motto was “The best way to predict your future is to create it” by Abraham Lincoln. The class flower was a white gardenia and the class color light pink.
Seniors entered the gym as Amy Sefrit played “Pomp and Circumstance.”
Dr. Jeremy Burright, Principal, welcomed everyone, and Trenton Kingery gave the senior welcome.
Honor speeches were given by Trenton Kingery and Charlie Smith.
The top students of the Class of 2024 were recognized: Trenton Richard Earl Kingery and Charlie Allis Smith, summa cum laude; Jasey Michelle Smith, magna cum laude; and Collin Bryant Hedlund and Kendal Kay Straub, cum laude. (Summa cum laude, GPA 4.2+; magna cum laude, GPA 4.0-4.19; and cum laude, GPA 3.75-3.99.)
Seniors and their guests enjoyed a video montage of senior remembrances.
Dr. Burright presented the eighth grade class. Eighth grade students are: Ace Andrew Allen, Kelsey Ann Avrett, Lataveon Kyris Brown, Damon James Drummond, Tyler Edward Duering, Carley Carol-Anne Graham, Leila Louise Knight, Wyatt Lee Curtis Landess, Knox Marion Oswald, Bentley Andrew Price, Elsey Alexandra Rogers, Jaxson William Smith, Kegan Cleo Swenson, Brady Miles Umbarger, and Emma Ruth Vance.
Diplomas were awarded to the graduating seniors by Miles Smith, president of the Board of Education.
Dr. Burright presented the senior class.
Kendal Straub gave the senior good-bye and the seniors exited to their class song, “I’ll Always Remember You” by Hannah Montana.
Junior class escorts were Grace Oswald and Clayton Vernon. Attendants were KayDee Duering and Cowen O’Riley.
