The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) board met June 12, 2024, at Community Hospital-Fairfax. Present were: Lori Seymour, Bob Alldredge, Craig Corken, Mary Ann Hull, Jeff Meyer, Roger Martin, and Eryn Stepp, board members; and Monica Bailey, director.
The April meeting minutes were approved.
The April and May financials were also approved as presented. Bank Midwest CD #7400 was rolled into a new CD on April 30 (nine moths at 4.27%). The group discussed CD fund distribution at Atchison County banks.
Director Report
Bailey recently attended the annual banquet of the Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation, Pathways to Prosperity (an informational event by USDA/FDIC/SBA), and Northwest Roundtable of Economic Developers.
Scott Sharp, Department of Economic Development Regional Engagement team member, visited Atchison County in April.
Bailey spoke at the Leadership Northwest Missouri class in Tarkio on June 6.
Bailey is meeting with Atchison County superintendents this summer and reviewing ACDC’s emerging workforce programs.
Workforce/demographic data has been updated on ACDC’s website. Atchison County’s profile on Location One Information System (LOIS) has also been updated.
ACDC continues to provide staff support to Restore Rock Port (RRP) and Tarkio Renewal (TR). RRP has acquired their next demo project. The TR Property Improvement Grant is closed for 2024.
Five 2024 Business Improvement Grants have been awarded to Northwest Missouri Land Title, R3 Tree Service, Daybreak Café, Creekside Autowash, and Dairy Diner. Bailey reported $4,000 is still available in this fund.
Applications for 2024-2025 Youth Beautification Grant projects (to be completed July 31, 2025) are due October 1. Winners will be announced at the annual meeting (October 9 in Tarkio).
Community Cleanup & Beautification grant applications are available now for projects ranging from $25 to $500, considered in order of postmark (mail only).
ACDC approved a $1,250 Nonprofit Grant via email for Tarkio Rodeo Association to help with the filming of the 2024 rodeo, which will be aired on RFD-TV.
ACDC awarded a New Business Grant to Parker + Clover Daycare.
ACDC will be updating and formalizing its database of rentals this summer.
