Bressler’s Academy of Martial Arts, a martial arts academy practicing the art of hapkido in Rock Port, Missouri, was honored Saturday, May 11, with visits by high ranking individuals from other academies around the region. They included: Master Ben Graham, Maryville, Missouri; Master Alex Puckett, Harrisonville, Missouri; Master Jerry Bradford, Grain Valley, Missouri; Master Justin Oldham, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Instructor Larry Apple, Maryville, Missouri.

A significant achievement was recognized that day by the awarding of 7th Degree black belt to Master Benjamin F. Graham of Maryville. Master Graham spoke of his personal journey of over 30 years in hapkido and of the history of AIMHI (American Institute of Modern Hapkido Instruction).

Local students Mrs. LoryAnne Daugherty and Levi Hirner tested for Certified 2nd Degree black belt and brown tip blue belts respectively that day.

Hapkido is a Korean martial art emphasizing fitness, discipline, and self-defense. Bressler’s Academy holds classes Mondays and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. at 317 S. Main Street in Rock Port. The academy is owned and operated by Eric and Beth Bressler of Rock Port.
